JessLerner.com, founded in 2020, aims to share the coast’s beauty with our friends all over the world. However, our beautiful coastlines, oceans, and wildlife are in danger due to the massive amount of waste that pollutes the sea.
While I am honored to capture our incredible coastline, there are times I skip taking the shot due to old cans, plastic bottles, tires, old boats, shoes, sunglasses, and many other items that wash up on our shoreline daily.
Yes, even the picture above was taken on a usually beautiful Destin, Florida beach after a storm. (That’s what washes up.) The amount of trash in the ocean is heartbreaking. However, there is something we can all do to help.
Support Organizations that Give Back, Volunteer & Get Involved
If you find out an organization gives back to ocean cleanup and marine conservation, consider supporting it. There are many brands out there that give back including 4Ocean, SandCloud Towels, Patagonia, and many, many others. Yes, we’ve joined this list, too – 10% of our profits will go to marine conservation.
It’s important we all do our part. Consider using less plastic, carry a reusable water bottle with you everywhere you go, skip plastic straws, and if you see litter at the beach, please pick it up. #leavenotrace
The Ocean Cleanup
While there are many local efforts to get involved in, the first ocean cleanup cause I would like to highlight is The Ocean Cleanup, https://theoceancleanup.com/. This non-profit organization was founded in 2013 in Delft, the Netherlands, to develop advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic.
Let’s Do This.
I’m beyond excited to highlight and support causes that I am incredibly passionate about. I hope you’ll join us in supporting these organizations.
